I am an Ironman & British Triathlon qualified triathlon coach.
At the core of my coaching philosophy is the belief that triathlon should be open to people of all abilities. Whether you are aiming for Age Group qualification, want to beat your times from last year, or want to complete your first triathlon you can benefit from structured training and the personal advice and feedback of an experienced coach.
I understand and have experience of both the highs and lows of being an athlete; the joy of crossing the finish line, the hard work of training in all weather and recovering from injury.
My passion for triathlon and my own triathlon journey began well over a decade ago – I’d always been active and enjoyed running, but needed a new challenge. I entered a mini triathlon, overcoming the need to improve my swim and really enjoyed the experience. Since then I have gone from strength to strength and completed numerous sprint, standard & 70.3 distance triathlons.
In 2020 I qualified for the GB Age Group Team to take part in the 2021 European Sprint Championships & 2022 World Super-Sprint Championships.
I became a British Triathlon Federation (BTF) qualified coach in 2011 and have coached regularly ever since. I went on to complete my Level 2 qualification in 2014, gaining extensive experience in coaching both pool and open water swimming; delivering static and track based bike sessions; planning, writing and delivering run track sessions; and writing my own triathlon training plans.
I have since qualified as a BTF Level 2 Diploma and Ironman certified coach and helped set-up the Amptri partnership where we believe a truly individualised approach is key to athletes success.
I coach athletes of all ages and abilities, competing from super-sprint to full Ironman distances. Fundamental to this is the relationship between the coach & athlete where communication is vital. I love analysing stats and poring over graphs, but also know there is more to improving performance than raw data. It’s so important to engage with an athlete and look at how they feel, what else is going on in their lives & learn what works best for them.
I intend to continue my journey supporting and encouraging others to achieve their goals & still enjoy volunteering at my local club SYtri where it all began.
